Plant Sale to benefit humans, animals, and the earth
The REM Co Cares Plant Sale for Charity team is holding our Plant Sale this spring, offering both outdoor and indoor plants. We are donating the proceeds to whichever of the following charities you select. You decide where your purchase price will go:
The plants are shown below, along with prices and other relevant info. Please fill out the order form we've created at Q:\Administrative\Misc\Plant Sale Info\Plant Sale Order Form Template.xlsx, save it to your desktop, and attach it to an email to Glen, and we’ll deliver your order on a first-come first-served basis until mid-November. The person ordering the most will receive an arrangement of choice succulents and a pair of garden gloves, combined worth more than $50. As a reminder, outdoor plants go dormant in the fall, but will look beautiful in the spring.
Please forward this to friends and clients who might want to participate. We just ask that you help with delivery to people outside the firm.
Spider plant (Chlorophytum comosum)
Also called the airplane plant, St. Bernard's lily, or spider ivy, it sends out runners with little flowers that turn into baby spider plants, making a beautiful cascade. Ideal for hanging baskets.
Devil's ivy (Epipremnum aureum)
Known as the money plant in Nepal, India, and Bangladesh. Known as Devil's Ivy because it's almost impossible to kill .
Rubber tree (Ficus elastica)
Rubber fig is a large tree in the banyan group of figs .
Chinese evergreen (Agloanema)
Slow-growing and only needs repotting after a few years. Keep humid and warm.
Arrowhead plant (Syngonium podophyllum)
Poisonous, as are most houseplants.
Purple shamrock (Oxalis triangularis)
Also known as "false shamrock," this perennial is typically grown as a houseplant. Needs to be potted in well-drained soil. Grows up to 12" tall. Poisonous to cats and dogs.
This flowering perennial grows best in the sun. Columbine blooms in May with delicate pink blossoms. The plants grow up to 1'-2' high. Bonus trivia: Columbine is the state flower of Colorado.
Foxglove (Digitalis pupurea)
This colorful biennial blooms in early June. Bees love it. Height: 1' - 3'. Plant in spring or fall.
Lovely rose-like blooms emerge in late May. Height: 3'. Plant in the fall.
Aloe yucca (Yucca aloifolia)
Also known as a "dagger plant" or "Spanish bayonet," this plant blooms white in late June and grows as tall as 6'. Plant in spring or fall.
Daylily - tall orange (Hemerocallis)
Colorful blooms throughout June. New flowers open on cut stems for several days. Grows to 30". Plant in the fall.
Daylily - short yellow (Hemerocallis)
Beautiful yellow blooms throughout June. Height: 12" - 15". Plant during the fall.
Yellow cone flower (Ratibidia pinnata)
Otherwise known as echinacea, this hardy perennial blooms throughout July and August. Height: 12" - 15".
Hardy purple blooms in late May. Height: up to 2'. Best to plant in the fall.
Also known as "horny goat weed," epimedium blooms a pleasant yellow in June. Height: 6" - 12". Plant in spring or fall.
Plants in the Astilbe genus are commonly known as False Goat's Beard or False Spirea.
Bleeding heart (large and small) (Laprocapnos spectabilis)
The bleeding heart is also sometimes called "Lady-in-a-bath" or the Lyre flower.
Coral bells / alumroot (Heuchera)
These plants grow best when placed in the shade.
Holly fern (Cyrtomium falcatum)
This fern makes for an excellent groundcover.
Chinese orchid (Bletilla striata)
Also known as the urn orchid
Japanese painted fern (Athyrium niponicum)
Ferns are one of oldest types of plants. Called seedless vascular plants, they use spores to reproduce rather than seeds.
Solomon’s seal - plain (Polygonatum biflorum)
The plant is said to possess scars on the rhizome that resemble the ancient Hebrew seal of King Solomon.
Jack in the pulpit (Arisaema triphyllum)
Also known as the bog onion, brown dragon, Indian turnip, American wake robin, or wild turnip.
Hens & chicks (Sempervivum tectorum)
Also called the common houseleek.
Sedum – stonecrop
This plant attracts butterflies.

Korean dogwood sapling (Comus kousa)
This excellent shade tree grows up to 30'. It blooms in June, flowering with small white blossoms for 3-4 weeks. Transplant in the spring.
Japanese maple sapling (Acer palmatum)
This colorful tree grows to 20' in maturity. It makes a great bonsai, as well as adding a decorative touch to your garden.
Saplings are 6" - 8" in a pint container. Transplant in the spring. Fast-growing, great shade tree. (Foliage is green; autumn colors pictured here.)

Grows in poor soil, withstands drought, spreads.
Spreads quickly (keep it contained).
There are many varieties of Hosta.
Great ground cover for large shady areas. Spreads quickly (keep it contained).
